Well, we finally did it. After a lot of planning, Robin and I topped off the tank and put the pedal to the metal on our cross-country "Road Trip" lasting three weeks.
A few interesting statistics from our journey:
- 22-day trip logging more than 8,350 miles (averaged more than 380 miles per day)
- Traveled through 19 states meeting two state troopers (Wyoming and Ohio)
- Shot more than 7,500 photos
- Average speed around 50 mph, high speed 101 mph
- Only encountered a couple of hours of driving in the rain
- Highlights of some National Landmarks (NL), National Parks (NP)_ and monuments visited include:
o San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge, CA
o Los Angeles, Hollywood, Beverly Hills
o Universal Studios California
o Petrified National Forest, AZ (NP)
o Loretto Chapel and Chimayo Church, NM
o Graceland in Memphis, TN (N.H.L.)
Also visited two Marine Corps Bases in California; got some kicks on Route 66; experienced Standin' on a corner in Winslow, AZ; before we went to Luckenbach, Texas.
